LB Agar, Lennox L, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli. LB Agar, Lennox contains half the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Miller formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Lennox plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. Used as an industry standard for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli and for the preparation of plasmid DNA, MOLTOX offers a large selection of LB Agars and Broths with plenty of added antibiotics to choose from for a more selective media. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.

This media is used for the cultivation and enumeration of yeasts and molds. Potato Dextrose Agar is also used for the maintenance of stock cultures of certain dermatophytes and for the differentiation of varieties of dermatophytes via pigment production. Each lot of media from MOLTOX is tested for sterility, where applicable, and its ability to support the growth of the appropriate microorganism. All media are accompanied by GLP-compliant formulation and Quality Control certificate.

Our Minimal Glucose Agars are specifically formulated for use in bacterial mutagenicity assays. Along with the standard formulation as described by Maron & Ames, Mutat. Res. 113:173, 1983, MOLTOX offers various other formulations such as histidine and biotin supplemented bottom agar. Our MGA's are offered in case quantities or individual sleeves. MOLTOX provides all products necessary to conduct the Salmonella, E. coli, MOLTOX FT™, µAmes and UMU Mutagenicity Assays. Bacteroides Bile Esculin (BBE) agar is an enriched, selective, & differential Med. used for the isolation & presumptive ID of obligately anaerobic gram-negative bacilli of the Bacteroides fragilis group & Bilophila wadsworthia. This media is prepared, stored, & dispensed under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use. This Med. is also available in a 4-plate package or packaged w/ other media types in a single convenience pack.BBE agar contains casein, soy peptones, hemin, & vitamin K as the nutritive base. Selective agents include gentamicin to inhibit facultative anaerobes & bile to inhibit most anaerobes other than the B. fragilis group. Esculin & ferric ammonium citrate permits the recognition of esculin hydrolysis through a brown to black coloration around the esculin-positive colonies. Bilophila spp. may produce black-centered colonies from hydrogen sulfide prod.

CellPro™ LB + Carbenicillin is a specialized culture medium containing carbenicillin, a β-lactam antibiotic used to select for bacterial strains carrying carbenicillin resistance genes. This LB agar variant is commonly employed in molecular biology research for the cultivation and maintenance of recombinant bacterial cells harboring carbenicillin resistance plasmids. By incorporating carbenicillin into the LB agar, this medium enables the selective growth of transformed bacterial strains while inhibiting the growth of non-resistant contaminants.
